Disenchantment

Disenchantment is an American adult animated fantasy sitcom created by Matt Groening for Netflix. The show supposedly takes place in the same universe as Futurama just in a different time period. Disenchantment has a number of references to Futurama and in Futurama's third run, they returned the favor with a reference to Disenchantment.

Futurama references in Disenchantment[]

  • In "For Whom the Pig Oinks", Bean went to the wig store and there was a wig that looked like Fry's hair on there.
  • In "Dreamland Falls", Luci looked through a back in time globe and one of the things he saw was Fry, Bender, and Professor Farnsworth in a time machine. This was a direct reference to the episode "The Late Philip J. Fry", where the trio got into a time machine and went past the destruction of the universe. They managed to see the rebirth of the universe and pass through all of history, time and time again. This means that they went through the medieval ages, when Disenchantment takes place.
  • In "Stairway to Hell", King Zøg jumped out of the bushes and shouted, "BITE MY SHINY METAL AXE!" This is a reference to Bender's catchphrase, "Bite my shiny metal ass." Appropriately, both characters had the same voice actor, John DiMaggio.
  • In "In Her Own Write", King Zøg quoted Bender again, while growing impatient for the play to start, as he said "Let's go alreadaaayyy!"
  • In "The Electric Princess", one of the streets in Steamland was called "Farnsworth Ave." Additionally, Bean found a drawer full of wires, that looked exactly like the wires in Professor Farnsworth's drawer.
  • In “Steamland Confidential” a steampunk version of the planet express ship can be seen

Disenchantment references in Futurama[]

  • In "The Impossible Stream", one of the shows on TV was called "Disenpantment", which was a parody on Disenchantment.
  • In "I Know What You Did Next Xmas", Professor Farnsworth used his time machine to travel through the entirety of history. While he did, he went through the medieval ages, where Princess Bean, Elfo, and Luci were seen in their castle.
