While tunnelling underground for petroleum oil, Leela exclaims that she is "setting Bachman-Turners to overdrive!" This is an obvious reference to the famous Canadian rock-band Bachman–Turner Overdrive.
In the Kwanza scene, Kwanzaabot bursts through a wall in a manner similar to the grand entrances made by the Kool Aid Man in his iconic television advertisements. Dwight even says "Kool Aid's Here!".
